Formentera

Formentera is a very small island with an area of about 70 km². It is the smallest inhabited island of the Baleares. The shape of the island resembles an L, with the shanks to the south-west and south-east. There is only one main road, running from one end to the other.

Formentera has no airport. The only way to reach the island is by boat. There are ferries from the nearby island Ibiza. If course there are also many many boats from all over the mediterranean visiting this island. In the sixties this island was discovered by hippies, but today it is much less crowded than other Balearean islands. Most tourists are from Germany and Italy. As all Italians make their summer holidays in August, the island is crowded with Italians in this month.
