Description

The Cennet Adası Mağarası (Heaven Island Cave) is a protected site, which is explored at the moment by a 25-person team. Beneath archeologists and geologists there are employees of the Marmaris Municipality Department of Technical Services like electrical engineers and architects who plan the development of the cave. At the end of the year the explorations will be completed and the cave will be developed as a show cave.

The cave is home to a species of butterflies, which seem to be Trogloxenes. They are similar to the ones living in Fethiye Butterfly Valley.

The Nimara Cave is located on Cennet Adası, a huge island in the middle of the cove right in ffront of Marmaris. Although there is a road connection with a yacht harbour, the island itself no no settlements and no roads so far. Some beaches are used by day trippers from Marmaris, but are visited solely by boat. There are boat tours around the island which show a small sea cave on the coast.
