Cyprus (Kypros) is an island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. The Capital is Nicosia (Levkòsia).
Cyprus is 240km long and 100km wide, which makes it the third largest island in the Mediterranean sea. There are two mountain ranges, the Troodos Mountains and the smaller Kyrenia Range with the central plain named Mesaoria in between.
The geology is complicated and very interesting. The island lies on the convergend palte rim between the African and Eurasian Plate. There are as interesting features like ocean floor basalts moved up by the collision of the two continents. There are the connected volcanic and plutonic rocks, ores and mineral, numerous ore deposits and mines. And there is limestone with caves.
