Geology of Argentina

Argentina is a huge country and cavers a decent amount of the continent South America, so it’s not easy to generalize the diverse geology. The central and easten part is lowlands and low-mountain ranges, mostly Precambrian basement, an Archean craton. The west is formed by the much younger orogeny of the Andes. The foothills of the Andes are Mesozoic basins with sedimentary rocks.
