Belize Kriol for Cavers

The language spoken in Belize is Belize Kriol (also Kriol or Belizean Creole), an English-based creole language. Kriol is the lingua franca of Belize and is the first language of Garifunas, Mestizos, Maya, and other ethnic groups, and is the second language for most others in the country. This means there are 150.000 native speakers and more than 200.000 who also speak the language. Nevertheless, it should be possible to travel the country with English. And also, the names of caves are either English or Maya or even Spanish. We guess the speleological terms are the English ones, we actually could not find a single term which was not. That’s the reason why this page is empty.
