Caribbean Islands

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an island country in the Caribbean, in the southeast Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles. The main island is Saint Vincent in the north and two-thirds of the northern part of the Grenadines also belong to the country, about 32 islands. The Grenadines are a chain of small islands that lie on a line between the larger islands of Saint Vincent and Grenada. Saint Vincent has a British colonial history, and is now part of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, CARICOM, the Commonwealth of Nations, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas and the Community of Latin American and the Caribbean States (CELAC).

The economy is based on agriculture (mostly bananas) and the tourism sector, which has considerable potential for development. The filming of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies on the island has helped a lot. As a result not only tourism but also the construction sector improved.
