Región del Biobío

The Región del Biobío (Biobío Region) is like most other regions bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the east by Argentina. The region is prone to earthquakes, the most powerful earthquake ever recorded happened in 1960, the second in 2010. The earthquake and the subsequent tsunami damaged many villages, especially those at the sea.
