Geology of Cyprus

The geology is very complicated and very interesting. The island lies on the convergent plate rim between the African and Eurasian Plate. There are such interesting features as ocean floor basalts moved up 5,000 m by the collision of two continents. There are all the volcanic and plutonic rocks one would expect, ores and minerals, and there are all kinds of sedimentary rocks. In other words: you will find almost anything on Cyprus you can find anywhere else on Earth! This includes caves and mines.
