Geology of Estonia

Estonia has a geologic and geographic situation which does not favour the formation of big caves. The country has numerous small ones, but no show cave and no other cave of special touristic interest. There are karst areas though and there is one seasonal spring of nationwide fame which we listed.

Most of the rock outcrops are sandstones of Eifel age, the caves are Speleologyerosional caves or Explainsuffosional pseudokarst.
