The Bretagne (Brittany) is the westernmost region of France, located in the northwest, west of Paris. It forms an enormous peninsula protruding into the Atlantic Ocean. To the north is the English Channel and to the south the Bay of Biscay. The region has its own language, Breton, which is a form of Celtic and similar to Gaeltacht, which is spoken in Ireland or Scotland. The area is mostly granite and not suitable for caves, no karst, and few artificial underground structures as granite is quite hard. There are obviously sea caves, and a few small tectonic caves. There is also some mining, although there are no spectacular show mines.
