Earra-Ghàidheal agus Bòd (Argyll and Bute) is a so-called unitary council area in Scotland and a lieutenancy area. It is located at the Scottish west coast, and has a heavily indented coastline and many islands. This includes the islands Islay, Jura, Iona, Mull and many more. Ther islands and peninsulas are connected by ferries. The roads are typically winding and require decent detours. The area is famous for its numerous distilleries.
Like always in Scotland, the geology is not suitable for karst, there are only small bands of limestone, mostly metamorphised, with small caves. There are also sea caves along the coast. The most spectacular sea cave of the world, Fingal's Cave, is located here, on the tiny uninhabited island Staffa. There is no city, so the number of artificial underground structures is also limited.
