Central Hungary


The Central Hungary region is a NUTS 1 and NUTS 2 region and as the name says, lies in the center of the country. It is more or less identical with Pest vármegye (Pest County). Central Hungary included Budapest, the capital of Hungary, until 2018, but now it is only a ring surrounding the capital. While this area actually has numerous caves, especially in the western section, none is open for the public at the moment.
