Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir is a region which is located north of India, but until 2019 it was administered by India as a state. It has been the subject of a dispute between India, Pakistan and China since the mid-20th century. In 2019, it was reorganized, and there are now two regions, the western part is still called Jammu and Kashmir, the eastern is called Ladakh. This page is about a geographical region which is in the north of India and has a mountainous geography. We have only three sites listed, and it makes no sense to spit this further.

This is the highest region in India, the plateau of Ladakh is in general over 3,000 m asl, the Jammu and Kashmir part has some deep valleys which are lower. The Himalayas create a rain shadow which makes Ladakh a high-altitude desert.
