Odessa Oblast


Оде́ська о́бласть is also called Оде́щина (Odeshchyna), and is located at the coast of the Black Sea, and at the border to Moldavia. The Oblast is named after its administrative center Одеса (Odessa). There are mostly coastal plains which are not suitable for caves, artificial subterranea are found all below Odessa, all of them were created as limestone quarries but are locally called Catacombs, although there are no catacombs at all.
