Jiangxi is located in the eastern part of China, bordered by the Yangtze river in the north. A little south is the province capital Jiangxi, which is located in a plain the wide valley of the Gan River. This southern tributary of Yangtze dominates the province, flowing through the entire length of the province from south to north. There are hills or low mountains on both sides of the river. The highest point in Jiangxi is 黄岗山 (Mount Huanggang, 2,157 m asl) in the Wuyi Mountains.
The province has deposits of copper, tungsten, gold, silver, uranium, thorium, tantalum, niobium, and others. Mining centers are Dexing (copper) and Dayu County (tungsten). Mining is the major part of the economy of the province. So far there seems to be no show mine though.
There are several show caves which are all located along the northern border. Only one is located at the border to Hunan.
