Jihomoravský kraj

South Moravian Region

The Jihomoravský kraj (South Moravian Region) is the south-western part of the historical region of Moravia. The capital is Brno, formerly also Brünn. North of the capital lies the famous karst area of the Moravian Karst, the most important karst area of the country with most of the show caves. To the south lies a flat and fertile area with many wineries, which actually stretches almost to Vienna across the Austrian border. This flat area has a single show cave in an isolated patch of limestone, the rest of the area offers numerous wine cellars.
