Giza Governorate - Muḥāfaẓah Al Jizah


Giza Governorate is in the center of the country, situated on the west bank of the Nile River opposite Cairo. The city of Giza is the capital, located at the eastern end of the governorate and in the Nile valley. The rest is mostly a stretch of the Western Desert, including Bahariya Oasis. The 6th of October Governorate was merged into Giza in 2011. The major tourist sites are the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx.
