Muḥāfaẓah Janūb Sīnāʾ - South Sinai Governorate

South Sinai Governorate is the southern half of the Sinai Peninsula and thus the least populated governorate of Egypt. It is bordered by the Gulf of Aqaba on the eastern and the Gulf of Suez on the western side. They meet at the southernmost tip, and from here the sea is called Red Sea. The peninsula is arid, in other words, it's a desert and there are almost no cities, the only bigger city is Sharm Al Sheikh on the southern tip of the peninsula. It is also a sort of tourist hub for the governorate. The governorate is an attractive destination for tourism due to its amazing and fascinating nature. Most visitors come for scuba diving and other water sports like snorkeling, windsurfing, kite-surfing, para-sailing, boating, and canoeing. There are numerous coral reefs and the sea is famous for its sharks. Also, it has an UNESCO World Heritage Site, Saint Catherine's Monastery, an Eastern Orthodox Church monastery.
