Extremadura


Extremadura is an autonomous community of Spain, located in the central-western part of the Iberian Peninsula, bordered by Portugal to the west. It consists of the two largest provinces of Spain: Cáceres and Badajoz. It has two major reserves, Monfragüe National Park and the International Tagus River Natural Park (Parque Natural Tajo Internacional). Extremadura is located in the Southern Plateau with the mountain ranges Sierra de Gata and Sierra de Béjar in the north, the Sierra de las Villuercas and the greater Montes de Toledo system in the centre, and the Sierra Morena and the Sierra de Tentudía in the south. The mountains reach 2,401 m in the north and 1,603 m in the center and 1,104 m in the south.
