Vestmannaeyjar is one of the few names in Iceland which are rather easy to pronounce by English speakers, nevertheless, the name is sometimes anglicized as Westman Islands. It is a municipality and archipelago off the south coast of Iceland. This is not a region, actually it belongs to the Southern Region (Suðurland), but as it is an archipelago and thus requires a ferry to get there we listed it separately. It is very young as it formed by eruptions over the past 12,000 years. As a result there are numerous lava tubes.
