Departamento de Tacna

Tacna is the southernmost department of Peru, borders the Pacific Ocean on the west, Bolivia on the east and Chile on the south. It is mountainous with volcanoes and deserts. There is no karst and the volcanism is too explosive for lava tubes, and due to the lack of people there are no subterranea, so there are almost no sites we could list. But the area was inhabited by man since about 10,000 years who used the erosional caves, typically shelters or overhanging rocks for stays and for rock paintings. Such a site is the only site we have listed.
