Ararat Province

Արարատ (Ararat Province) is named after the biblical Mount Ararat. Located at the southeast of the Ararat plain, approximately 30% of the territory is plain, while the rest is dominated by mountains. The Yeranos mountains are in the north, the Gegham, Dahnak and Mzhkatar mountains in the east, and the Urts mountains in the south. The province is bordered by the Araks river in the west. The highest mountain is mount Spitakasar (3560 m asl) in Gegham mountains.
