France has a long history of underground tourist sites, including show caves, which were more or less invented by the first caver of the world, E.A. Martell. He was one of the first who developed a cave with trails and light for public viewing, to earn his living with the cave. Over time some were not successful and had to be closed. Others were closed when the owner retired, or sold the ground. There are numerous reasons, but the result is always the same: guidebooks still list the cave but when you arrive it is gone, and typically there is no explanation. So here is a list of objects we know that they are not accessible any more.
