Ilha Terceira - Terceira Island


Terceira Island is a small volcanic island which belongs to the Azores archipelago. The active volcanic island is composed of several older extinct volcanoes. The highest point of Terceira is 1,021 m asl, formed by the summit of the dormant Santa Barbara volcano. It is also known as the Serra de Santa Bárbara. Four overlapping stratovolcanoes built over a geologic structure called the Terceira Rift- It is the junction between the Eurasian, African and North American tectonic plates.
