At the Drive-in Mine old and new techniques used in mining for opals are displayed. The mine was named such, as the tunnels, locally called drives, are big enough for huge machines. Once a convoy of Bentley cars from England entered this mine, another time a double decker bus. This is one of the few mines mines accessible to visitors with wheelchairs.
This attraction was run by Victor Borkovic who came from Serbia to Lightning Ridge in 1965 for a visit and never left. He is now retired and the attraction closed.
