Miners Heritage Walk In Mine, Australia's largest underground walk-in sapphire mine, offers underground tours and an underground gem shop. It is located at Rubyvale, Queensland, in the heart of the Queensland sapphire fields. The mine was opened as a working mine for sapphires, but after only two years it was transformed into a show mine. The guides are underground miners who talk first hand about their work. The tour follows the Monkey Drive tunnel dug by Charles Hagan in 1906.
