2000 | tomb discovered. |
The Aleksandrovo kurgan (Aleksandrovo Thracian Tomb) is located in and named after the city Aleksandrovo. It is famous for well preserved frescos depicting human figures of the Hellenistic era. The paintings show religious rituals and hunting scenes. Pictures of humans are rare in Thrakian tombs, so this is only the second such tomb after Kazanluk which was discovered in 1934. The tomb was built during the 4th century BC.
