History

Description

Guacara Taina is a dance club, sometimes also called a night club, located inside a karst cave. The night Club includes Merengue Folkloric Show, three bars, deli-restaurant, and three huge dance floors. It has room for more than 2,000 people inside the cave.

This is said to be one of the hotest dance clubs in the Dominican Republic. The best Caribbean artists come regularly to the Guacara Taina. The played music is Merengue, Salsa, Merenhouse, Latin Reggae, Spanish Rap, and Cumbia. There are many visitors, so its a good advice to come by taxi, as there might be no place to park the car. The owners offer Merengue workshops designed for tourists to learn the basic movements of this enormously popular dance. The Merengue originated in the Dominican Republic and can now be heard in every country.

The whole club is located inside the cave. From the entrance a wide passage leads down to the main chamber which hosts the dance floor, about 15 m below ground. The side branches are used for little alcoves where you can get cozy and check the moves down on the dance floor. On many websites it is declared the "only grotto Club in the whole world". We have listed numerous restaurants, clubs, and discos in caves all around the world, so we know it is not true.
