Description

The Museo Termas Romanas is an underground museum showing the excavation of a Roman bath. The excavation in the middle of the city was covered by a concrete ceiling which is now the new plaza. It is possible to visit this underground in small groups and for free. Not only the site is now underground, but also the excavations revealed only the underground part of the bath. The walls of the building were destroyed, only the mosaic floors and the underground hypocaustum, the ancient heating system, remain. The site was also used as a burial site, so several stone coffins were excavated.
