The Museo Arqueológico Nacional de España (National Archaeological Museum of Spain) in Madrid has an accurate reproduction of the Cueva de Altamira (Altamira Caves). It was created in the 1960 by specialists from the Deutsches Museum in Munich, Germany. At this time the cave had to be closed to the public as damage caused by the visitiors was discovered. To allow people to see the cave anyway the idea was to create a replica which shows the most important paintings.
