Description

The Puig de la Balma is a farm house built under an overhanging cliff and located at the Parc Natural de Sant Llorenç de Munt i l'Obac (Natural Park of Sant Llorenç de Munt i l'Obac). The house was built in the 12th century and was used for generations as a farmhouse by the Puig family. It is currently run by the 27th generation of the Puig family. The family has renovated the house and offers agro-tourism with accommodation, restoration and a museum of great historical and anthropological value. So you can sleep in a cave and eat typical Catalan food, with an emphasis on typical food of rural areas, in a historic arched cellar. There is even a swimming pool and a private chapel. The far end of the cave was used as wine cellar in the Middle Ages, when a good wine was produced in the area. The wine making ended in the mid 20th century.

The site is located near the town Mura and is reached on a single lane gravel road. The are is popular for hiking and it is often visited by hikers. The place was a filming location for the Catalan-language movie Pa Negre (Black Bread).
