History

Description

The Scialet de Malaterre is a cave with a daylight shaft as entrance. The shaft is 120 m deep and has a sloping ledge at 52 m. It is not possible to enter the cave without climbing gear, and the impressive shaft requires physical fitness and a lot of caving experience.

A visit is also worthwhile for normal tourists, as the cave is developed with a 10 m long iron bridge across the opening. This allows visitor to cross the shaft and look down. The access to the bridge is not restricted and free. It is a popular spot for walkers and mountain bikers.
