The Casemate de Neunhoffen was named after the nearby village Neunhoffen, which today is part of the municipality Dambach. The casemate of Neunhoffen is a part of the Maginot line of the Northern Vosges. It was restored to its original state, which allows visitors to relive the daily life of a fortress crew. Fotos of the Schwarzbach valley during the period 1939-45 give an impression of the situation. Beneath the bunker there is also a walking trail which connects numerous military remains, fo example dams which would have allowed to flood the valley, the shooting range, and the remaining foundations of the barracks.
The interior of the bunker has various typical rooms. There is a barack with 12 beds and a wood stove. The drinking water syste, the ventilation and the generator room can be seen. The so-called Turkish latrines require an extensive explanation. And the military installations are there, the firing chambers, grenade launcher chutes, and the ammunition storage.
