SEP-2006 | opening of Shunt Lounge. |
The Shunt is an art project, 10 artists creating "performance events in unexpected, abandoned or derelict buildings throughout London". The place we are listing here is a strange labyrinth of cellars below London Bridge Station. This structure was obviously a part of the construction of the train station. The cellars were used as wine cellars for a century, but for some years it is used by the artistic collective, which also manages an underground café or bar called the Shunt Lounge in the vaults. There are late-night performances and events in the lounge and art exhibitions and installations in the rest of the vaults.
