History

1861	Argiros family begins operation of its winery.
1952	winery closed and abandoned.
1999	restored and converted into a modern art gallery.

Description

Art Space Winery is a former winery which was transformed into an art exhibition and gallery and a winery museum. While the exhibition displays the old tools and machinery of the long wine making tradition of the Argiros family, the underground wine cellars were actually converted into an art gallery. The art is contemporary, mostly by local artists, but also from abroad. A part of the cellars was renovated and is again used for aging wine. With a depth of 12 m, the temperature in the cellars is absolutely stable and thus ideal for maturing wine. Thr einery also has an old rakidio (rake distillery) and produces fine spirits.
