Description

The ΣΥΜΠΟΣΙΟΝ (Symposion Cultural Center) is a cultural center in Megalochori, which offers an immersive experience of music, art and mythology. While they state that they are for locals and visitors, the site is obviously primarily for tourists. The center is housed in winery which was built around 1900. So much is actually underground in the wine cellars, which offer a moderate temperature all over the year, with natural air conditioning. The name Symposion comes from the Greek word sympinein which translates ‘to drink together.’

The center has several sections, for example the Artisan's Workshop where wooden pipes are made, the Garden Courtyard, which is a botanical garden, and a café which also offers wine tastings with local wine. However, the underground part, the wine cellas of the former winery, is used for events and for art exhibitions.
