Cuevas de Actún Kan (Actún Can Cave) is protected by the Parque regional municipal Actún Kan (Municipal Park Actun Kan). Legend has it that the Actun Kan Cave was the home to a giant serpent, and is sometimes called La Cueva de la Serpiente. The cave system is rather big and has numerous entrances, which were named with different names before the connection was discovered. This Actún Kan entrance is very well developed with trails, staircases, railings and electric light.
