History

Description

The small cave Grotta Fioravante is of archaeological interest. It is an archaeological site which is not excavated at the moment, so there is actually no development as a show cave, thats why we listed it as a wild cave. But there are a sort of trails from the archaeologists, so the visit is quite easy. The cave is managed by the Gemina Società Cooperativa, a small non-profit organization who actually manages the nearby fossil site, which is quite important and has produced numerous dinosaur fossils so far. The fossil site has regular open hours, entrance fees and there is the possibility to hunt fossils. The cave on the other hand is only accessible after appointment, only for groups. The tours made by the people from the fossil site are nevertheless educated, interesting and quite funny, as they tell numerous local legends. The visit is fascinating for children, and the guides do their best to entertain and educate them. Cave visits are mostly made for local school classes.
