History

Description

The church of Sant'Angelo in Vetulis is a sanctuary built partly inside a cave and partly in masonry. The church is mentioned in the 11th century and again in the 14th centry as a church of Sulmona. The small natural cave with the remains of pillars and capitals is hard to find, because it is completely hidden by vegetation. The place is little known even by locals and is in complete disrepair.
