History

Description

白鹿権現 (Shishi Gongen) is a temple which is frequented by local hunters. More than 20,000 skulls of wild boars and deers are placed carefully along paths leading to two Hokora (place of worship) as offerings to mountain deities. This animistic practice has been handed down through generations for at least 800 years.

The shrine has a trail and is signposted, nevertheless it is a littly tricky to get there
