History

1933 opened to the public.
2000 cave closed due to a decline in visitors and the risk of collapse.

Description

養沢鍾乳洞 (Yozawa Limestone Cave) was quite popular in the 1980s. In the guidebook Hiking in Japan by Paul Hunt describes the Yozawa Cave as small and muddy and "must be explored with candles or a flashlight". There were three drops in the cave, which were descended on rough-hewn ladders with chains as railings.
