제주중앙지하상가 (Jungang Underground Shopping Center) is named after Jungang-ro road where it is located. The underground city has 280 stores selling clothing, shoes, accessories, glasses, watches, jewelry, bags, hats, flowers, and more. It is noted for selling many local things and souvenirs. There are also numerous restaurants, fast food, and rest lounges. The underground city stretches over Jungang-ro, Seomun-ro and Dongmun-ro.

The Jungang Nao District is a very prosperous and bustling area in Jeju City. There are also numerous shops, cafés and restaurants on the surface. Due to the lack in a subway this is actually the only underground mall on the island.

The shopping center was actually built underground, most likely to avoid the high temperatures outside. There is no subway or railroad infrastructure connected. It is nevertheless opened all day, except on Seollal (Lunar New Year's Day) and Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving Day). Most shops are open 10 to 21:30, restaurants longer.
