Description

පිළිකුත්තුව රජමහා විහාරය (Pilikuththuwa Rajamaha Viharaya) is a cave temple, which was built under a huge boulder. Pilikuththuwa Stupa (dageba) is located on the right side of the cave temple inside a large cave, which is actually a cleft formed by two huge boulders which lean together. This small dageba was built in Mahanuwara kingdom time. On the edge of the cave entrance so-called kataram were cut into the rock to prevent rain water coming inside. 20 steps uper ther is nother cave temple which is quite small and called Pilikuththuwa Upper Viharaya.
