History

Description

Темна Пештера (Temna Peštera, Dark Cave) is actually developed as a show cave. There is a trails from the road into the gorge, a spiral staircase leading down to the river, a bridge with tables and benches for a picnic. An electric cable was drawn to the cave, and the cave has electric light and trails in the clayey floor. The red colour looks like this development was in the 1970s or 1980s, but that's just a guess. The main passage is rather spacious, between 1 m and 7 m wide and up to 8 m high. After 120 m the trails end and the cave requires crawling. The cave is gated, so this is not a semi-wild cave.

Unfortunately, we could not find any information about the cave and how it is open. We guess visits are only possible after appointment, but we have no contact data. If you have visited the cave or have any further info, please email us. At the moment we were not able to retrieve any open hours, and thus we classified it as a closed cave. We can only suggest asking at the Мотел „Трасер“ which is right in front of the cave.

The cave has another big problem, as "Dark Cave" is such a generic name, and there are virtually dozens of dark caves on the web, including several fantasy caves from various computer games. The next dark cave is actually only a few kilometers away. This name is almost as annoying as Bat Cave and River Cave. As the proper name is normally the only identifier we can use for a cave, a unique name would be quite helpful.
