L-għar ta' Mixta (Mixta Cave) is both a natural cave and an artificial cave, so we had some difficulties classifying the site. There obviously was a natural cave, a huge portal and a single chamber behind. To make it better accessible, a staircase from the plateau above was cut into the rock, which ends in the rear wall of the cave. And there are other alterations at the cave, most likely used to add wooden constructions, probably a floor, but the major changes are the foundations of several walls which cut the cave into rectangular rooms. Those walls are long gone, only the lowest 20 cm are still visible.
What's there to see is the great, breathtaking view, the cat which has an eye on foreigners, and the Keep Out signs. It seems the cave is visited by many tourists, and the public road actually ends in a private property. So the owners are obviously not happy about strangers trampling across their ground, leaving litter, and parking their cars in the way. We suggest staying on the road, parking without blocking the road, and taking your litter with you. This is not the U.S.A., you're not getting shot for trespassing.
