History

Description

قنطرة سيدي ربي (Kantara D’Rabi) or Pont de Dieu (God's Bridge) is a spectacular natural bridge with reddish limestone walls, which is actually crossed by the trail. It is reached in a short hike from the end of the road. About 30 km from Chefchaouen, the town of Akchour is the gateway to the region's mountainous Talassemtane National Park. From here a pleasant walk leads to the foot of the 60 m high natural bridge through the canyon, the trail is sometimes a little rough. A better trail higher up on the slope leads to the top of the bridge and actually crosses it. More spectacular is the lower route, there is a great view from top of the bridge, but it's impossible to see the bridge itself.

The site is quite popular and there are often a lot of visitors. There are about half a dozen cafés along the trail to the bridge, selling tea and tajines. You might want to bring a towel and water shoes.
