Riri Blue Hole is actually a set of karst springs which form Mavutor river. The river is quite short, it flows into the sea after only 500 m. There are actually two large springs of vauclusian type which are thus called blue holes.
Riri Blue Hole is a bathing spot and quite popular. It is reached on Sant East Coast Road. The locals have installed wooden platforms, bathrooms and change areas and charge a small fee for this infrastructure. It's possible to drive close to the blue hole, but it's also possible to stop at the bay and take a boat up the river to the spring.
The Blue Holes of Vanuatu are named such, because they are almost circular ponds with the typical blue colour caused by the high limestone content of the water. Nevertheless, the karstological term is actually reserved for submarine dolines, so this is simply a karst spring, and blue hole is the proper name.
