Ski Dubai Ice Cave is actually neither a cave nor an ice cave, at least not the way those names are correctly used. It is though a cavernous room full of ice, quite similar to the frequent glacier grottoes of the Alps. This is actually an enormous refrigerator with ice sculptures, and actually it not among the things we normally list. However, the cave-like appearance is impressive, and so we decided to list it anyway. The Ice Dragon sculpture which is the reason why this cave is also called Dragon Cave does not consist of ice though. It was made of Clear Urethane Casting Resin poured into Mold Max® silicone molds by the company REDHOT Dubai (they are very proud to explain this on their website). So the dragon was not chiseled out of an ice block. The cavern is located in the basement of the building, the five downhill ski runs are located in the slanted building above.
سكي دبي (Ski Dubai) is located in the Mall of the Emirates on the Shiek Zayed Rd. It is a huge refrigerator with a slope which is used as skiing site. It is also the world’s largest indoor snow park with 914 m² and cost USD 275 million. Obviously, the cooling down costs enormous amounts of energy, and the snow is also artificial, fresh snow is made every night. The fees for skiing are not exactly cheap, but actually a ski pass in the Alps is not necessarily cheaper.
