Description

Aquinaldo Cave is a legendary historic site, where General Emilio Aguinaldo is thought to have signed the historic peace treaty. According to local lore, Emilio Aguinaldo took a refuge in this cave while leading the resistance movement against the Spanish and American colonizers. Here was the Mesa de Aguinaldo (table of Aguinaldo) where he signed the treaty and subsequently became the first president of the Philippine Republic. The cave is a resurgence and the water immediately flows into the Balaong river. Visitors are allowed to swim in the resurgence. The cave was once visited by boat, but as far as we know there is now a trail.

This cave is rather small and not very interesting, but it is of great historic importance for the Filipinos.
