Kalkstensgrottor (Limestone Cave) is not the name of the cave, but it is the name under which the tours are advertised. The name of the cave is Kvarnbäckslabyrinten. This undeveloped cave is visited on guided tours by a local extreme sports organizer. The tour definitely requres physical fitness and is suitable only for trained people with some ability to climb. The tour includes a lengthy walk to the cave and the cave tour itself and takes about seven hours. Several close, but not connected caves are visited, and there is also an abandoned mine from the 17th century.
A second tour visits the Mettjeburretjakke. This cave tour is even more demanding as the cave can only be reached by climbing. The trip starts at Storulvåns fjällstation, then ascends to the cave at 1,000 m asl. It is necessary to abseil to the cave entrance and there is more climbing required inside the cave.
For both tours prior arragement is essential. Caving gear, helmets, headlamps, rubber boots, gloves, warm underwear, and clothes to change are necessary. However, gear is provided by the tour operator. The tours start at JoPe Fors & Fjäll in Undersåker, southwest of Åre.
